Care begins
We match a caregiver to the client and care starts once any required approvals are in place.
Care that honors every culture
Cultural respect is essential to reducing health disparities. At Era Home Care, our goal is to give every client high-quality care, regardless of race, ethnicity or culture.
We expect our caregivers to be curious, respectful and responsive to each client’s beliefs, traditions and preferences. Understanding a client’s culture, and how it shapes the way they see the world, helps us provide care that truly fits them and their family.
Every client deserves to be understood, not just cared for.

Frequently asked questions
Answers to the questions families ask us most.
How do I know if my loved one needs home care?
Common signs include trouble bathing, dressing or getting around the home, skipped meals or missed medications, or a recent fall, hospital stay or new diagnosis. If any of these sound familiar, call us and we can talk it through.
What do your caregivers help with?
Bathing, grooming, dressing and toileting, walking and transfers, medication support, meals, light housekeeping and laundry, errands, going to appointments and companionship. Every plan is built around the client’s needs.
What is the difference between home care and home health care?
Home care is non-medical help with daily life, such as personal care, meals, housekeeping and companionship. Home health care is skilled medical care from licensed professionals, such as wound care, injections or physical therapy. Era Home Care provides home care. We do not provide wound care, injections or therapy.
How are your caregivers screened and trained?
Every caregiver is screened before caring for a client, including a background check, reference check, physical examination and skills assessment. Our caregivers also hold CPR and First Aid certification and complete OSHA training.
What happens if our caregiver is sick or on vacation?
We send a replacement. We have a large team of caregivers, so we can always arrange coverage and your care continues without interruption.
Do you offer overnight, weekend or 24-hour care?
Yes. We offer overnight, weekend and 24-hour care. Tell us the schedule you need and we will build the care plan around it.
Do you care for people with dementia?
Yes. We care for people living with dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease, with patient, consistent support that helps them stay safe and comfortable at home.
How can I pay for care?
You can pay privately (out of pocket) or, if you qualify, through Maryland Medicaid. See Paying for Care for details.
